Allumeuse

1986, 17.1 h Dark Bay Trakehner
by Consul out of Alitalia by Mahagoni

Allumeuse was imported from Germany in utero. She's out of some of the best Trakehner bloodlines. Allumeuse's dam was by Mahagoni, who was not only the champion of his performance test but later came to be known as the best dressage Trakehner of his time. Allumeuse's sire is the Elite stallion Consul, Trakehner Stallion of the Year, prized in both the Hanoverian and Trakehner breeds for passing on great mares and horses with excellent rideability. Unfortunately, Allumeuse's uterus was shot after one foal, so she was retired to being a pasture ornament in Virginia.

Foals out of Allumeuse:

*2003 - True Muse, 18 h bay gelding by Salute The Truth

-Sold-

Auburn Queen

1989 Gray Thoroughbred
by Debussy out of Tarnished Angel

Peppi came to Dodon Farm as a lease. When her foal was born brown, we decided to name him Plain Brown Truth. Unfortunately for our naming desires, he chose to be a gray, so he was renamed Plain Truth. He's turned out to be not so plain - he's a very nice mover and good jumper.

Foals out of Peppi:

*2006 - Plain Truth, gray gelding by Salute The Truth

"Brownie" is for sale! Please visit the Sales Page for more information.

Buttercup

1981, Dark Bay Sweedish Warmblood/Mecklenburg
by Big Colt out of Pretty Polly

When well-known Swedish Warmblood breeder Ellen Shepherd left Maryland to become a Wyoming rancher she left two mares with us, Buttercup and Gamine. Buttercup is out of Ellen's foundation mare, Pretty Polly, and by a Mecklenberg jumper called Big Colt (who was himself by a Thoroughbred stallion out of a German mare). Buttercup's offspring are competing in dressage and eventing, including Donald Ruth's Grade 2 eventer, Easy Does It. I had a five year old of Ellen's in training, and he was one of the nicest animals I've ever worked with. He made me want his dam.

Foals out of Buttercup:

*2001 - Glenwood Truth, 16.1 h Dark Bay mare by Salue The Truth

-Sold-

*2002 - Truthful Tommy, 17 h chestnut gelding by Salute The Truth

Detente

1999 16 h Chestnut Oldenburg
By Davingport (Hanovarian) out of Etoile (Selle Francais) by Bonjour

Zelda was here at Dodon Farm on lease, but is now back in training with her owner, Kate Holt of DunPikin Farm. Zelda evented at the lower levels and could certainly have done hunters or FEI dressage. We expect Salute The Truth to add the gallop, scope, and temperament to produce spectacular offspring. Her 2007 filly Truce is living up to our expectations and her 2008 filly is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. Zelda left us for a couple of years after developing a granulosa tumor, but is now back here in foal for 2012.

Foals out of Zelda:

* 2007 - Salute The Truce, chestnut filly by Salute The Truth

"Truce" is for sale! Please visit the Sales Page for more information.

* 2008 - True Class, chestnut filly by Salute The Truth.
This filly is incredibly fancy - we can't
wait to see how she matures!

"Kate" is for sale! Please visit the Sales Page for more information.

* In foal for a late-March 2012 foal by Salute The Truth

Fox Spring

1984, 16 h Dark Bay Thoroughbred
by Pas Seul out of Cottage List

Fox is by Pas Seul, sire of Nina Fout's 2000 Fair Hill CCI*** horse, Frosted Chrystal. Her dam's sire is First Landing by Turn-to. Fox evented and won through preliminary with young rider, Gabi Bowser. She was a bit of a legend for her extravagant jumping style, but also was hard to beat on a good day in the dressage arena because of her warmblood-like suspension at the trot. Fox was bred to steeplechase, but spent most of her pre-eventing career as a foxhunter. Her foals have their mother's suspension and flair at the trot.

Foals out of Fox:

*2000 - Runaway Patriot, 15.2 1/2 h bay mare by Patriotically (full brother to Salutely, sire of Salute The Truth)

-Sold-

*2001 - Absolute Truth, 16.1 h dark bay mare by Salute The Truth

-Sold-

Gamine

1995, 17 h Dark Bay Sweedish Warmblood
by Galapard out of Karinka

Gamine is by Galapard out of Ellen Shepherd's Devon-winning mare Karinka. She was never ridden due to complications from a bad case of contracted tendons as a foal (not an issue with any other of Karinka's offspring), but when I saw her in the field I immediately suspected that she would have been one of the best ever at Glenwood Farm
.

Foals out of Gamine:

*2001 - Truth to Power, 16.3 h dark bay gelding by Salute The Truth

-Sold-

Game as a foal

*2002 - Game of Truth, 16.2 h flaxen chestnut mare by Salute The Truth

-Sold-

Gallic Gal

1993 16.2 h Bay Thoroughbred
by Mokhieba out of Irish Decree

Gigi is our best broodmare so far! Gigi was bred to steeplechase by Don Yovanovich, but suffered a neck injury which kept her from racing. She was acquired by Francie Daugherty who bred her to Salute The Truth. This mare has all of the qualities that have made Mokhieba one of the most popular sires of eventers in recent years, and I just had to have her. After breeding she never left the farm. She produces very correct and fancy foals. GiGi's 2003 gelding son, Soldier of Truth, was sold to Bruce Davidson for his son Buck in 2007. We also have a 2004 filly and a 2006 gelding from this wonderful mare - both of whom seem to be more talented than the other. After her last foal, she had a hard time maintaining her pregnancies, so Gigi is now owned by artist, Leland Neff, who tells us she is currently in foal to his stallion for 2011 - fingers crossed that she stays that way!

Foals out of Gigi:

* 2002 - Marina, bay mare by Salute The Truth

Marina is for sale by her owner/breeder. Click here for more information.

* 2003 - Soldier of Truth, bay gelding by Salute The Truth

Georgian Blues

Chestnut Overo 14.2 hand Pinto
By Call Me Mr. Blue (Paint) out of Danni

Georgia is Steuart's wife, Erin's horse. She is an all-around great little mare that has foxhunted and competed at BN with Erin. Her only other foal so far, Rosie, by another Thoroughbred stallion, is a very good jumper and mover and we hope for one just as talented (ok, more talented!) from Willy.

Foals out of Georgia:

* 2002 - Southern Promise, chestnut filly by Capote's Promise (TB)

Now owned by Lauren T.
More photos of Rosie on the Sale Page

* 2010 - Frankly True, chestnut colt by Salute The Truth

"Frankie" is for Sale! See the Sale page for more information.

Good Queen Liz

1989 - 2011
Chestnut Thoroughbred
by Sir Raleigh, out of Azure Coast

Liz is by Sir Raleigh, a 17h son of England's Horse of the Year Sir Ivor, and out of Azure Coast, whose grandsire is the great My Babu. Liz raced a few times but then injured herself sliding under a board fence on ice. She produced our stallion, Salute The Truth, when bred to Salutely. Liz is the source of Salute The Truth's calm temperament. With very little training she became a foxhunter for Steuart Pittman, Sr. when he was 75 years old. It was Liz's powerful build, her athleticism, and her incredible ground-covering walk and trot that made us pursue the purchase of Salute The Truth.

Dodon Foals out of Liz:

* 2000 - Goodkeeper, bay mare by Innkeeper

-Sold-

* 2003 - Inn With The Queen, chestnut gelding by Innkeeper

Jamie's Girl

Gray 16.1 h Canadian Sporthorse
By Cozy's Commander out of OK Jamie (TB)

Leah was here on free-lease for a few years while her owner worked on becoming a farrier. Her sire is the Canadian Sport Horse who sired John Williams's Olympic horse, Carrick, Gretchen Butts's 4* horse Zydeco, and many other wonderful event horses. Leah is a perfectly balanced gray mare who injured her hip, but trots around the field like she's trying to make the US Dressage Team for the WEG. Leah is now back with her owner, Melissa M., as one of her riding horses.

Foals out of Leah:

* 2008 - Cozmic Truth, gray colt by Salute The Truth

R.I.P. Cozmo 6/1/08 - 2/11/09

*2009 - Face The Truth, gray filly by Salute The Truth

"Cara" is for sale! See the Sale Page for more information.

May Testamony

1992, 16 h Chestnut Thoroughbred
by Deputed Testamony out of Remnant

May Testamony is a full sister to Denny Emerson's stallion Reputed Testamony. This is a bloodline that is built uphill and can move and jump like event horses ought to. May injured her back at the track, we were told, and was therefore never able to prove herself, but we think that crossed with Salute The Truth her foal will be a star. Unfortunately, we were only able to get one foal out of May.

Foals out of May:

*2002 - True Testamony, 16.2 h chestnut mare by Salute The Truth

"Streak" is competing at Novice and is for sale. See Sales Page for more information.

Never Mind Mandy

1986 16.1 h Chestnut Thoroughbred
by Never Mind out of Betsy Coed

Mandy was bred in Canada where she evented preliminary before coming to eventer Josh Walther's barn and then being sold as a show hunter. I bought her out of a dressage barn because I hadn't seen a TB trot like her in a long time. The suspension is there in every step she takes, and it passed through to all three of her sons, everything a breeder could ever want.

Foals out of Mandy:

*1999 - Uprising, gelding by Patriotically, full brother to Salutely (sire of Salute The Truth)

-Sold-

*2003 - Ray of Truth, chestnut Thoroughbred gelding by Salute The Truth

*2005 - Flame of Truth, chestnut Thoroughbred gelding by Salute The Truth

-Sold-

Seville

1985 15.1 h Chestnut Trakehner/Morgan Mare
by Pregelstrand out of Saddleback Sorceress (Morgan)

OK, so technically, Peanut is not a Dodon mare originally. But she came to us in foal when Erin moved to the farm in 2007. She's by the Elite Trakehner dressage sire, Pregelstrand. Her past life included time spent as a dressage horse in Colorado where she had at least one foal by Hanoverian stallion, Pik Abu. Before moving to Dodon, Erin bred her to Sempatico for a 2005 colt named Semper Fi - that colt, who earned a Gold Premium Status with at his RPSI inspection, is cimpeting in eventing with his new owner, Rebecca. Peanut is now retired from breeding and is living the life of luxury as a pasture potato here at Dodon. All of her foals have her incredibly kind disposition.

Dodon Foals out of Peanut:

* 2005 - Semper Fi, bay tobiano colt by Sempatico

Now competing at Training level in eventing with his owner, Rebecca.

Siesta

*2007 - Siesta, chestnut colt by Hadrian
